Curated by Stefania Arcara, Adriano Elia, and Maria Paola Guarducci, the book offers a radical reinterpretation of English-language cultural production over the past half-century, combining critical rigour with political awareness. Through an analysis that interweaves postcolonial perspectives, gender studies, and performance theory, the volume explores a broad and deliberately heterogeneous corpus of poetic and dramatic texts from the United States, the Caribbean, Great Britain, South Africa, and Nigeria. On Tuesday, February 17, 2026, Maria Paola Guarducci and Francesca Terrenato were at the University of Cape Town in Rondebosch, South Africa, at the School of Languages and Literature, where they were hosted in Dr Bibi Burger’s class to talk about their work on South African women poets. Postgraduate students, PhD students, and colleagues participated in an open discussion on the richness of women’s poetry in English and Afrikaans in the country.
